Macho team spirit put to the test in "That Championship Season" at Westport Country Playhouse
As a portrait of macho cronyism at its most blatant, Jason Miller's prize-winning 1970 drama, "That Championship Season," should strike a nerve with anyone who has ever suspected that friendship is often the lubricant of business dealings. Though "Season," now at the Westport Country Playhouse, is, on the surface, about team spirit and the lifelong bond of athletic winners, it really is about the persistent, sometimes unhealthy or immoral give-and-take of male bonding.
